How does a lack of self-awareness affect the Ideal Team Player Assessment?
This idea was something that we discussed when creating the assessment. It’s always a concern because this is inherent to all self-assessment tools. Additionally, inaccuracies can be an issue if employees are intentionally trying to manipulate their results to achieve certain scores.
However, throughout the extensive testing we conducted, we found that our concerns were largely addressed and resolved by the data we received. While someone who is extremely deficient in emotional intelligence (smarts) and self-awareness (humility) might sometimes receive higher scores than they should, the results are comparative. So, the tool still consistently yields accurate results in terms of the ranking, which remains the most important piece over the numerical scores.
Also, thankfully, most people are not so deficient in any of these values that they are completely blind to their own tendencies and behaviors. If that were not the case, a self-assessment tool like this would essentially be worthless.
