Why does Working Genius only use a 3-Point Scale?

Q:  Why are there only three options in the assessment?  I found myself putting “sometimes” for almost all of the questions. 

A:  We did seriously consider using a 5-point Likert scale when developing the assessment.  We tested multiple versions of the tool using a variety of different scoring systems, and found that using three options (as opposed to five) actually provided the most accurate results.   Even though people tend to answer "sometimes" more often than they would with a 5-point scale, it also means that people feel more strongly about their answer when they respond with "definitely" or "never."
